We are not in Kansas any more (with apologies to Dorothy)

We departed San Diego for Ensenada on December 29 with our crew John Bousha.  We arrived Ensenada the next morning, cleared customs and spent the afternoon resting and cleaning up.  In the evening, we went to dinner near the fish market and Eulalie and Eric watched Captain Phillips at the local cinema.  John left for home the following day and by New Year’s eve, we were alone again sailing south into the New Year.  Elizabeth Jean was so happy to be on the high seas that we let her take us fifty miles offshore under fresh winds.  Two days later we came into Bahia de  Tortuga (Turtle Bay) for a day’s rest.  Two more days at sea found us at the entrance of Bahia Santa Maria, where several humpback whales entertained us with fin slapping and breaches.  While resting in Bahia Santa Maria a fishing boat pulled aside Elizabeth Jean to ask if we had 4 AA batteries.  We gave them 8 batteries from our stash to make sure there were 4 that worked.  The fishermen rewarded us with two lobsters.  Steamed for lunch, they provided the finest shipboard meal we’ve enjoyed to date.  After another day and a half we arrived in Cabo San Lucas on January 11.  The contrast between the bustling resort and remote Bahia Santa Maria and Bahia de Tortuga could not be more dramatic.  Whether in a remote anchorage or bustling harbor, the colors are vivid.  We know how Dorothy and Toto felt.

We will post pictures when we have more time on the internet.
